Big and powerful, fateful! - This is how the Watzmann is even sung about. This route to the famous Watzmannhaus begins at the Hammerstiel car park, which is subject to a charge. The tour is a demanding hike and is a wonderful introduction to mountain tours. For the ambitious, the route can be completed in one day. Alternatively, you can stay overnight in the Watzmannhaus with prior booking. From the car park, the route initially takes you on a wide forest road through sparse forest moderately uphill to the Stubenalm. Here the ascent from the Hammerstiel combines with the ascent from the Wimbach Bridge. The ascent continues on a wide path, past the Lahneralm to the managed and much-visited Mitterkaseralm. Here you can linger a little until the last steep third leads over the Falzalm to the Watzmannhaus. The paths become significantly narrower and turn into a mountain trail. Numerous switchbacks lead to the Falzalm and grassy slopes and a rock step to the final destination. Sure-footedness and sturdy shoes are recommended and a certain level of stamina is required!
