The entire route is a demanding mountain hike through high alpine terrain, which is best suited as a trekking route for two to three day stages. This requires sure-footedness, a head for heights and a certain level of fitness. There are overnight accommodations in the seasonally managed Wimbachgrieshütte (with three daily variations) and in the seasonally managed Ingolstädter-Haus. The path leads there after a decent ascent from the Wimbachbrücke through a varied landscape past the Wimbachschloss. From the Wimbachgrieshütte, a steep ascent awaits to the summit of the Hundstodgatterl and runs on the plateau to the Inglostädter Haus. From there, after a descent, you climb steeply one last time to the Seehorn. The descent leads past the Seehornsee, the Weißbachalm and the Waldmühlsäge to the famous Klausbach suspension bridges. From there the path goes on wide hiking trails to the Hintersee.
