The SalzAlpenTour starts at the Hammerstiel hiking car park (subject to a fee). This loop takes you to the Archenkanzel, one of the most famous vantage points in the area. Basic fitness and sure-footedness should be brought along in order to be able to master the sometimes steep ascents and climbs. The hiking trail leads along the white Wend, through the beautiful forests of the Berchtesgadener Land biosphere reserve. As a reward, there are magnificent views and great food in the Grünsteinhütte. It is also worth taking a detour to the Grünstein summit, with breathtaking views over the Königssee, or stopping off at the Kühroint hut. It goes back through bright forests past the Schnapachalm.
