The Watzmannhaus, located below the Hocheck (one of the Watzmann peaks), is one of the most well-known DAV mountain huts. The Watzmannhaus can be reached via AV-Weg 442 from the paid car park / from the Wimbachbrücke bus stop. The route is easy to walk with sufficient physical condition, sturdy shoes and appropriate equipment.
A particular challenge, however, is the Falzsteig (from kilometer 7). The rocky trail, some of which is secured with wire ropes, is steep and sometimes scrambling up and down. Even if the Falzsteig is classified as relatively easy, a head for heights and surefootedness are a must here. After a stop or an overnight stay in the Watzmannhaus, you return to the valley on the familiar path.
