Grünstein Via Ferrata Königssee

Demanding and scenic tour at Königssee in Bavaria. The Grünstein is a panoramic mountain on the Königssee north of the Watzmann. It is often climbed on the normal route, but more demanding sports via ferratas also lead to the summit. This tour definitely requires experience, a head for heights, surefootedness and a good level of fitness. It is important to wear a rockfall helmet and to have complete via ferrata equipment. Four different routes lead to the summit: "Isidor-Steig": This is the easiest variant, it is not consistently steep. Nevertheless, the climb leads again and again through steep wall areas. The via ferrata is named after Isidor Grassl (Grünauerer) from Schönau. "Variant": This variant has the difficulty level D over longer passages. It ends at the suspension bridge in the Isodor-Steig. "Räuberleiter" ("Robber's Ladder"): The robber's ladder meets the "variant" in the upper part of the Grünsteig under the suspension bridge. An overhang rated E must be overcome here (difficulty level D/E overall). "Intersport-Renoth Gipfelwand": It is located just below the summit and has the difficulty level D+/E (partially overhanging). The starting point is the Königssee car park, which is subject to a fee.
