From the summit of the Grünstein you have fantastic views towards Berchtesgaden and over the mountains of the Berchtesgaden Alps. The Grünstein is attractive at any time of the year, and the route is also ideal as a snowshoe hike.
The route begins at the Hammerstiel car park (subject to a fee), east of Schönau a. Koenigssee. From there, the route heads south. At the beginning, it goes very steeply uphill.
