Längseugenweg (Sd01)

Popular loop trail in the Upper Bavarian Forest Nature Park, Bavaria. From the starting point in Thierling, you walk along the gravel path in the direction of Neuthierling. On this path is the Kalvarienberg on the left with the Stations of the Cross and chapel. Go straight over the next crossing. Passing two farms on the left, you walk in the direction of Kühleiten. Here you turn right into the forest. The asphalt road, which you soon reach, leads to Rauchenberg and Bartlberg. Here are the idyllically located farms with their cattle pastures in a larger forest clearing. After this open space you dive into the forest for a longer period of time. The marking then points to the right on the path into the forest. After approx. 450 meters you have the choice of hiking the longer trail via Neuhaus or directly back to Thierling via the Tratthöhe. The route suggested here is the longer variant and you walk along the Längseugenweg on the left, a beautiful, shady forest hiking trail with wonderful vantage points. Keep to the right at the forest crossing and then come through the princely forest of Thurn and Taxis past the Thierlinger and Röthelschlag to Neuhaus. Once there, a detour to the left takes you to the center of Neuhaus. There is a children's playground and the Marienkapelle "Rosenöd" on the mountain a little to the south-west. You should also take some time to visit the castle complex, where the amateur theater Schorndorf puts on plays every year. It is also possible to stop off at the AI Castello inn at the foot of the castle hill. After the sightseeing tour, you return from Neuhaus to the starting point in Thierling on the little-used asphalt road with great views over the Thierlberg.
