Popular hiking trail in the Upper Bavarian Forest Nature Park, Bavaria.
From the starting point in Sattelpeilnstein south of the castle, you walk downhill through the village until you reach Fischkalterstraße. This is accompanied by the regional hiking trails called Main-Donau-Weg and Suedliche Hauptwanderlinie. Turn left into the street and immediately keep to the right. After approx. 160 m you shouldn't overlook the marking to the right, which leads you into the forest. At some point you have to cross a clearing area with new planting. Please stay on the trail here so that the planting is not damaged. You now reach an asphalt road through the village of Sitzenberg, which you follow downhill to the right. Via the gravel path "Am Weissenstein" you reach the Peilnsteiner Straße. Immediately after 50 meters keep to the left again. The two national hiking trails, the long-distance hiking trail and the Main-Donau-Weg, leave the local hiking trail here. The following, idyllically situated gravel road in the direction of Koepfelsberg will eventually turn into forest paths. Following the markings, you soon reach a comfortable gravel path in the direction of Boden. From here you are on an asphalt road. Not long and the sports field is reached. Heading south you get back to where you started.
Highlights of the hike:
- Sattelpeilnstein
- Schloßberg of Sattelpeilnstein nature reserve
- idyllic forest edges
- Quiet forest trails
