Popular hiking trail in the Upper Bavarian Forest Nature Park, Bavaria.
The more than 10 km long fruit hiking trail circles the entire Katzbach-Loibling club area and runs through varied villages, open countryside, briefly through a mixed deciduous forest and offers beautiful vantage points of the surrounding cultural landscape. The starting point of the fruit trail is in Katzbach-Loibling at the children's ticket office, where you can also park. From here it goes in the direction of Katzbach on the Ziegeleiweg. Before entering the Langackerweg, the level crossing is crossed. Before the forest, turn left and soon after turn left again into the playground. Then follow the Wackerlinger Weg, where you turn left in Wackerling. After approx. 175 m you come to a field path on the right, which you follow to the next left turn. Here you turn left and go through the village of Brückl. The district road CHA 14 is crossed. After 300 m keep left and after another 300 m turn right onto a field path. On the Garsberg you should definitely enjoy the beautiful view. It continues on the northern outskirts of Loibling on the upper Holderbühlweg and from there left on the Bachweg to Ponholzmühle. Following the Alter Ponholzmühlweg it goes along the railway track to Katzbach back to the starting point. The fruit trail consists of over 100 fruit trees, berry bushes and wild fruit trees. Different cultivars were used to represent the immense diversity of existing fruit varieties. (In Germany alone there are about 3000 different types of apples). The selection of varieties includes both historical and the latest breeds, robust standard varieties for every garden, but also sensitive varieties for lovers, early varieties for fresh consumption and autumn and winter varieties for storage. Tasty table fruit for mild climates and pure must varieties for juicing in rough locations round off the range of varieties.
