Kehlstein über Steftensteig

5.5miLength
2,857ftElevation gain
Loop
Demanding, unmarked climb through the southern slopes of the Mandlköpfe. The challenging route starts at the Scharitzkehlalm parking lot and leads steeply up to the Kehlstein via the Steftensteig. The climb is only sparsely secured with a few pin holds ("Steften"). The steep gully through the south face of the Mandlköpfe is at risk of falling rocks and requires unsecured climbing. There is a refreshment stop shortly after the summit of the Kehlstein. The descent via the Sappensteig is steep but much easier.
