Göll Crossing via Steftensteig/Mandlgrat and Brettgabel

This route covers the entire traverse of the Hoher Göll and Hoher Brett, a challenging alpine loop hike that begins and ends at the Scharitzkehl parking lot near Berchtesgaden. The trail leads steeply through the valley via the Senftensteig to the west face of the Hoher Göll and continues over the Mandlgrat to the panoramic summit of the Hoher Göll. From the main summit, the route follows the high-alpine ridge trail past the Archenköpfe and over the Brettriedel to the summit of the Hoher Brett, before the steep descent via the Brettgabel leads back to the starting point. There are no campsites or mountain huts along this technical day hike, which is why overnight camping is not permitted. Via ferrata equipment and a helmet are strongly recommended for the secured sections. There are absolutely no water sources in this karstified limestone terrain, so you must carry your entire daily supply of water with you. No permits are required for this hike, but extensive alpine experience is essential.
