Little Arbersee adventure trail (Lo03)

Popular loop trail in the Upper Bavarian Forest Nature Park, Bavaria. For the “Kleiner Arbersee” adventure trail, you should allow for a walking time of around 5 hours. The starting point for the hiking trail marked Lo3 is the tourist information office in Lohberg. A footpath leads over the so-called "Bogenfelder" downhill to Zackermuehle and again slightly uphill towards Schneiderberg. If you keep an eye on the marking, you can easily find the river hiking trail to the Sollerbach waterfalls and later to the picturesque Kleiner Arbersee. When you arrive at the lake, the Seehaeusl invites you to take a break and enjoy the wonderful view over the lake. The mountain lake with its floating islands is a unique natural phenomenon. The relic from the Ice Age near Lohberg is one of three Ice Age lakes in the Bavarian Forest. Since it was dammed in the 19th century to allow the wood to drift, the moor felts have detached themselves from the shore and float on the water as "floating islands". The loop around the lake is highly recommended. An information board indicates the former glassworks location. After the Kleiner Arbersee there is a short, easy ascent to the Sonnenfels (refreshment stops). If you keep the Lo3 markings in your sights, you will arrive at Brennes after a short time, then follow the path down to the Ebensaege wasteland.
