Kuenischer Grenzweg (La01)

Popular loop trail in the Upper Bavarian Forest Nature Park, Bavaria. From the tourist information, turn right down the Arberstrasse for about 300m, until the street "Im Moos" branches off to the left. After around 100m you have arrived at the sign tree in "Moos", follow the markings uphill, past the golf course until you come to the Panoramaweg (La2). There, a road branches off to the right and following the signs, past wayside shrines and field crosses, you reach the edge of the forest via a dirt road with a view. Here you come to a forest road, stay on it until it ends. This is followed by the demanding ascent on a rocky forest path. When the forest clears (signpost / sign tree), the Großer Osser is already in sight. Now the ascent follows past the hut of the Lam mountain rescue service over the rocky summit ridge to the Großer Osser (1293 m). After a stop at the Osserschutzhaus (directly at the state border), the descent is much easier. Back down at the forest clearing (signpost / sign tree), you can already see the Kuenische chapel, built in 1985/86 by the Lam forest association section to symbolize the bond between Bavaria and Bohemia. From the sign tree, follow the La1 markings and continue downhill on the forest road, past the Teufelstritt (rock with a sign carved into it) to the Sattel hiking car park. Through the high forest towards the valley you reach the Bergkircherl Maria Hilf. An old, easy-to-walk trail descends in the direction of Lam, past a group of dead boards at the edge of the forest. Finally you reach the starting point again via Lambacher Straße. This tour can also be done in the opposite direction.
