Best trails in Glass House Mountains National Park
The Glass House Mountains National Park is located just outside the Sunshine Coast and just under an hour from Brisbane. It has an awe-inspiring landscape that consists of huge volcano cores that are 26 million years old sprouting from the flat plains with the remnants of the open Eucalypt woodland and heathy vegetation that would have dominated this area before European settlement. There is also pine plantations and mixed farmland found through out the plains. This area is so unique that it is part of the Queensland and National Heritage Register and was only established in 1994.

- (2779)•Moderate•1.5 miThis track is great for those who want to take small steps to build up to the more challenging mountains. While it’s not overly difficult, the path can be slippery and a little muddy just after rain and there are a few steep sections along the way to the summit. The track passes through open forest and fern understory before rising steeply up Mount Ngungun. As with most peaks in the Glasshouse Mountains there are amazing 360 degree views at the top but take care near the cliff edges and be...
- (1350)•Hard•2.1 miThe Jinibara and Kabi Kabi peoples ask that visitors not climb to the summit of Mount Tibrogargan out of respect for their culture and traditions. As one of the iconic 12 mountains, Mount Tibrogargan is a significant Indigenous geographical landmark that forms a key part of local indigenous Dreamings. Aboriginal people considered Tibrogargan the father of all the Glass House Mountains, except for his wife, Beerwah (a nearby peak). If you do wish to climb it, please take care as you walk...
- (1082)•Moderate•6.3 miThis is challenging yet rewarding scenic circuit and a local favourite within the Glass Mountains National Park. The trail starts with a rocky scramble around the eastern face of Mount Beerburrum before heading up to the Jack Ferris Lookout, with an easier return descent via Soldier Settlers Track. As you walk on this trail, a series of stunning views emerge and disappear of the different neighbouring Glass House Mountains. There are many places to stop along the way for a break and to soak...
- (912)•Moderate•2.8 mi•Est. 1–1.5 hrThis is a wonderful, quick hike or run around the base of Mount Tibrogargan in the Glass House Mountains. The trail is well marked and straightforward so not terribly challenging for young kids or the older generation. You'll experience a nice bush track and pleasant scenery with several good views up to the mountain from the base. Excellent for a short getaway in the nature. Highlights of the walk: - Cooee View point - Ngungun View point - Beerburrum View point - Tunbubudla View point
- (937)•Moderate•2.1 mi•Est. 1–1.5 hrThis is a paved but very steep walk that leads 700 metres uphill through a small area of rainforest, before winding up through eucalyptus woodland to a fire tower. There are 360-degree views of the Glass House Mountains and other parts of South East Queensland from the summit. On a clear day, Brisbane CBD is visible too. When descending the fire tower, go down backwards as you would with any ladder to avoid any nasty accidents.
- (683)•Moderate•4.6 mi•Est. 2–2.5 hrA beautiful option if you find yourself in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast region of south east Queensland. This route takes you most of the way around the base of Mount Tibrogargan - one of the most famous of the 11 peaks of Glasshouse Mountains. You'll then cross Tibrogargan Creek and continue along the Trachyte Circuit up to the Jack Ferris Lookout and back to the Trachyte Circuit carpark where this route begins. There are plenty of awesome lookout points and photo opportunities...
- (955)•Moderate•1.3 miA beautiful place with varying views and landscapes full of tall craggy peaks that overlook the flat surrounding valley that is covered by rainforest. A place to see and explore, feel the serenity of the bush in dry times. This walks takes in the twin peaks of Mt Coochin. The long first climb up is a good little workout, then a short slow steady scramble descent. The same up to the second peak, then an easy hike along the spur and back down. Nothing too challenging - dusty rock surfaces on...

- (743)•Hard•1.2 miThe Glasshouse Mountains on the Sunshine Coast formed after volcanic eruptions 25 million years ago. As one of the iconic 12 mountains, Mount Beerwah is a significant Indigenous geographical landmark. The wishes of local tribes are to not climb Mount Beerwah summit and uphold respect when in the area. If you do wish to climb it, do so respectfully to the Country. Not for the faint-hearted or if you have fear of heights, this is a mental as well as a physical challenge. Only partake if you...
- (615)•Moderate•1.0 miThis trail is lesser know than to the peaks in the Glass House Mountains Range. The trailhead from the road is not very visible. Best to park at the main car park for Tibrogargan and then walk down the road a couple of hundred meters. The first section is a fire break then look for a pile of rocks to mark the start of the actual climb. The path is quite narrow the entire way up and it’s far from flat or even, so you’ll need to watch your footing. Once at the top make sure you turn left...
