Hagen - World Natural Heritage Beech Forests of the Stubnitz - Sassnitz

Panoramic circular route in the Jasmund National Park, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. This is a truly magnificent hike through the Jasmund National Park. The route not only leads along some of Rügen's most popular attractions, such as the famous chalk cliff "Königsstuhl", but also enchants with great views of the Baltic Sea and a route through the Stubnitz beech forest in Jasmund National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From the Königsstuhl National Park Centre car park, which is subject to a charge, you set off in the direction of the national park's landmark. It passes the old peat bog, Lake Hertha and the Hertha beech tree. The trail also leads along the "Forest" adventure trail, where nature can be discovered in a playful and creative way. Once arrived at the National Park Centre, an entrance fee has to be payed to visit the Königsstuhl chalk cliff. There is also the opportunity to stop for refreshments. Continue along the Hochuferweg towards Sassnitz with wonderful views of the sea and the chalk cliffs. Caution! Due to the risk of falling, only approach the cliff edge up to the marked points and only use the designated beach access points. At the N-6 Wedding Strand landmark, the trail continues along the stony beach to the Sassnitz spa shell and finally back into the beech forest towards Hagen via Hoffmanns Stübchen. From time to time the path is quite steep and rooty, which is why a certain basic fitness level is an advantage.
