Radtour Nr. 5 - Die romantische Tour

The tour begins in Landkirchen. The place is an old craft village. The widely visible St. Petri Church is an old seafarers' church that was built in the early Gothic style in the 13th century. The free-standing wooden bell tower from the 17th century is particularly worth seeing. Also noticeable are the pulpit and the model of a warship (around 1617) that hangs from the ceiling. Under the nave there is an octagonal, cup-shaped baroque baptism from 1735. It is decorated with cherub heads and angel figures and shows five reliefs with motifs from the Holy Scriptures. The stalls in the aisle used to belong to influential families, cousins, guilds and brotherhoods. The "high chairs" standing on the outer walls still belong to certain families today, but are no longer entered. The route leads at the southern exit towards Teschendorf. Halfway to Teschendorf, the Teschendorfer Moor extends on the left side of the path, in which a prehistoric trading center was uncovered in 1945. Via the villages of Teschendorf and Westerbergen one arrives at Lemkenhafen, which once (in the 2nd half of the 15th century) had the town charter of Lüb. The coat of arms of that time showed a little lamb walking to the left with a Holstein nettle leaf. In the 17th and 18th centuries, Lemkenhafen was a lively trading center with several granaries. In addition to the fishing and yacht harbor and the Aalkate, you can also visit the sailing windmill “Jachen Flünk”, built in 1787 by the grain trader and shipowner Joachim Rahlff in Lemkenhafen. The Mill and Agriculture Museum is housed in the mill. You leave the village to the north and drive to Lemkendorf at the Neuhof, Bellevue and Mittelhof farms. Heavy car traffic must be expected on this section of the route. Lemkendorf is a typical example of the usual village shape on Fehmarn, the so-called Fortadorf. This is a compact street village, in the center of which the street widens to a rectangular square. The villages were originally surrounded by a low stone wall. There were gates at the entrance and exit of the town (hence the name "Forta") so that the cattle could be stored in the square at night. Street names ending in "-dor", e.g. B. Middeldor, point out that there used to be a gate here. One of the most beautiful paths on this tour leads from Lemkendorf to Bisdorf, one of the most romantic Fehmarn villages. On the right-hand side, the route is lined with the Kopendorfer Au, the largest "river" on the island. At the southern exit of Bisdorf the route leads back to Landkirchen. To get to the bike path to Landkirchen, you have to cross the main road - be careful, as heavy traffic is to be expected.
