Radtour Nr. 4 - Die Mühlentour

Varied round trip on Fehmarn, Schleswig-Holstein. The starting point is the village pond in Petersdorf. You leave Petersdorf in the northeast and follow the asphalt road at sign 4/2 turning south via Gollendorf and Neuhof to Lemkenhafen. Be careful when crossing the state road. Lemkenhafen used to have its own town charter. The coat of arms of the city at that time showed a lamb walking to the left with a Holstein nettle leaf. In the 17th and 18th centuries, Lemkenhafen was a lively trading center with several granaries. In addition to the fishing port and marina and the Aalkate, you can also visit the "Jachen Flünk" sailing windmill built in 1787 by the grain merchant and shipowner Joachim Rahlff in Lemkenhafen. The Mill and Agricultural Museum is housed in the mill. Continue over the dike to Orth. A visit to the harbor is worthwhile here. On the west side there is a monument to Emperor Wilhelm I from 1890. We continue along the dyke, past the Krummsteert/Sulsdorfer Wiek nature reserve. At the sign 4/11, turn north and drive via Sulsdorf to Püttsee. From there, a feeder leads to Flügge and the Flügge lighthouse. The route continues on an asphalt road to the dike north of Püttsee. The Wallnau nature reserve now lies on the western side. A detour is possible here. The penultimate village on the tour is Kopendorf, which has retained the box-shaped village shape typical of Fehmarn, the so-called Fortadorf. The tour leads back to Petersdorf, where a village educational trail provides information about the history of the village.
