Starting point: St. Peter's Church in Landkirchen The vaulted, three-aisled brick hall of St. Peter's Church in Landkirchen was built as a seafaring church in the mid-13th century in the early Gothic style. The free-standing, wooden bell tower from the 17th century is particularly worth seeing. The pulpit and the model of a warship (around 1617) hanging from the ceiling are also striking. Below the nave is an octagonal, goblet-shaped baroque font from 1735, decorated with cherubs' heads, angel figures and five reliefs with motifs from the Holy Scriptures. The pews in the central aisle once belonged to influential families, nepotisms, guilds and brotherhoods. The "high stalls" on the outer walls still belong to certain families today, but are no longer used. The tour initially heads north out of the village. To reach the cycle path towards Petersdorf, you have to cross the main road. Take care when crossing due to the high volume of traffic at this point. After about 300m on the cycle path, the route turns north towards Bisdorf and Vadersdorf. Again, take care when crossing the main road. From Vadersdorf, take a dirt track to Gammendorf. This route is only suitable in dry weather. Gammendorf, with its many stately farms, is a double village that has grown together from two village centers (Slavic village and colonist village). Shortly before Wenkendorf, the route continues in a northerly direction to the dyke. Head east along the dyke until you reach the Niobe monument. The memorial commemorates the sinking of the training ship "Niobe" on July 26, 1932, when a sudden squall caused the ship to capsize and 69 people drowned within a few minutes. The tour continues over the dyke to the "Grüner Brink" nature reserve. This is a beach forest landscape with boggy depressions and brackish beach lakes. Guided tours are organized regularly in summer. To the east of the nature reserve is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. The tour then heads south to Johannisberg. Remains of cave dwellings with Stone Age food waste were found here in 1880. The route continues via Todendorf to Hinrichsdorf, which was an aristocratic estate until 1670, when it was bought by the then Fehmarn landscape. The "Kriegssoll" memorial is located between Ostermarkelsdorf and Landkirchen. This is a memorial to the people of Fehmarn who lost their lives in the war with the Danes in 1644.
