Von der Hohen Liebe in den Lattengrund

Moderately difficult hike. Good basic fitness required. Easily accessible paths. No special skills required. The hike starts at the forester's lodge in the Kirnitzschtal valley, on the road west of the parking lot (signpost "Schrammsteine"). After crossing the bridge, turn right. The route leads uphill, initially keeping to the right for a short distance on the Kohlichtsteig/Oberer Steinbruchweg and following the signs to Ostrau. Be careful, there are currently some fallen spruces on the Kohlichtsteig due to bark beetle infestation! At the next junction, take the path towards Hohe Liebe (red line). The ascent to this mountain is marked "Bergsteigerehrendkmal". The hilly shape of Hohe Liebe contrasts with the rugged rocks in the vicinity. Legend has it that the origin of the name lies in an unhappy love story with a tragic outcome. The route leads back down the same way and follows the Oberer Liebenweg (red line) to the next crossroads. There it turns right. At the next crossroads, follow the path to the right called Wenzelweg. At the next crossroads, turn left onto Elbleitenweg (signs for Ostrau). The path leads to the crossroads at the Großer Schrammtor. Here it branches off to the right (yellow and blue line) and after about 400 meters turn right again into the Lattengrund (blue line), where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Falkenstein before descending. In a courageous undertaking, gymnasts from Schandau climbed this 80-metre-high peak as early as 1864 - the idea of free climbing was born! The Lattengrund leads into the Zahnsgrund. Keeping to the right, you reach the "Schrammsteinbaude" inn with the bus stop of the same name. The tour is suitable for both children and dogs.
