Loop
Panoramic hiking trail in the Saxon Switzerland National Park, Saxony.
There are many unique spots with great views on this route. The tour can be started at the bus stop or at the Schrammsteinbaude hiking car park. From there, the path leads through the narrow gorge Schiessgrund and Vorderwinkel to the Upper Affenstein Promenade. From time to time there are many small climbing passages where surefootedness and a little caution are required. The Affenstein Promenade itself is not a developed hiking trail. Hardly any differences in height have to be mastered, but you have to climb over a few rocks a few times. Great views and a detour to the Idagrotte await.
On the way back, you first go over the partly steep Reitsteig, which is mostly accessible with beams and stairs. There are also some insured passages. At the crossroads to the Schrammsteinweg, turn left onto the zurückesteig, a varied path that leads over iron stairs and jagged rocks. This main path of the Schrammsteine introduces the next promising chapter. It goes to the famous Schrammstein viewpoint. The Obrigensteig takes you back to the starting point.
Highlights of the route:
- Beautiful viewpoints
- Fun climbing passages
- Idagrotte
- Monkey Stones
- Schrammsteine / Schrammstein view
