Über den Wildschützensteig zur Schrammsteinaussicht

Moderately difficult hike. Good basic fitness required. Predominantly easy paths. Sure-footedness required. The route starts at the Neumannmühle mill in the Kirnitzschtal valley and follows the yellow line markings. It leads between steep, green overgrown walls into the Großer Zschand. At the next major fork in the trail, at the junction to Zeughausstraße - marked with a red line, turn right and after a few minutes left (red line) to Winterstein, also known as Hinters Raubschloss. After a climb, a path to the right leads to the ascent of the Winterstein. The actual ascent to the summit plateau is adventurous - a head for heights and surefootedness are essential! However, climbing a long, free-standing ladder and other exposed passages is a special experience. A castle complex once stood on the Winterstein, high up on the rock above the valley and difficult to access. The castle was masterfully carpentered from wood. Remnants of the medieval rock castle can still be found on the summit today, such as the cistern for the water supply and the beam rebates. For the way back, take the same route down the ladder and steps and then continue along the path to the fork in the road. Turn right here and take the next path branching off to the right (Buchschlüchte). Soon (next fork) you will find yourself back on Zeughausstraße, which you take to the left. At the next junction you have reached the Kleiner Zschand. Walk to the left (green line), past the Quenenwiesen meadows. The name could be interpreted as a reference to dried-up streams in the dry seasons. The Middle High German word quinen means "to disappear". At the next crossroads, stay on the wide Zeughausstraße, which after a few minutes takes you to a crossroads where you turn right. From now on, follow the red dot/M marker in the direction of Kuhstall. This is the Fremdenweg, which takes you to the Kuhstall. For the way back, follow the red dot in the direction of Lichtenhain Waterfall and descend into the Kirnitzschtal valley. The hike ends here at the public transport stop. The tour is suitable for children, but not for dogs. A head for shingles is essential!
