From Sassnitz to Lohme

Beautiful circular hike along the chalk coast on the island of Rügen, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. This picturesque circular trail crosses popular paths in the Jasmund National Park and is classified as rather demanding due to its length. The route starts in Sassnitz near the park entrance (parking spaces available and bus arrival possible). It goes north along the beautiful Baltic Sea coast to Lohme. It offers a spectacular view of the Baltic Sea and the famous chalk cliffs. Ancient, magnificent beech forests are traversed, which are part of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage. In some places it is short but steep uphill. There is also the possibility of going down the beach in some places. Attention danger of falling! It is essential that you only use the signposted sections of the beach and do not step too close to the edge of the cliff. The famous Königsstuhl is on the route. To visit the most famous chalk cliff, you have to pay an entrance fee. There are also opportunities to stop off at the Königsstuhl. From there it goes on to Lohme. Here, too, it is worth taking a break and stopping for a bite to eat. If you don't want to walk anymore, you can take the bus back to Lohme. On the way back it goes past Hagen and you pass the old peat bog and other small ponds. Through relaxing forest it goes to the starting point.
