Kochel to Sonnenspitz Loop

Popular mountain hike on the Kochelsee. Instead of forest roads, this hike leads over small, lonely paths. However, the route has some pitfalls. For example, the descent from the Kienstein is quite steep, and later on, the paths are often very narrow and sometimes overgrown with grass. It's like hiking on lost paths. But that's exactly what makes this route special. Compared to the surrounding mountains, the Sonnenspitz is very little visited and is a real highlight for anybody who wants to be far away from other hikers. To do this, start in Kochel at the train station and go to the Sonnenspitz by first hiking in the direction of Kienstein and then via the Graseck to the Sonnenspitz. Arrived at the Sonnenspitz, a spacious rest area with a view of the Kochelsee invites hikers to take a well-deserved break. The subsequent descent can be done via two different routes. Either follow the circular route or return to Kienstein on a different route. Either way, taking a small detour to the beautiful Lainbach waterfall is advisable before hiking back to Kochel.
