Schindelauweg (Nk22)

Popular hike in the Upper Bavarian Forest Nature Park, Bavaria. Walk along the main street through Rittsteig, turn right after the church (parking) into Oberkaltenhofstraße and walk along it to a hill with a group of death boards, the Schusterkreuz. From here you can see the village of Rittsteig and also take a look at Neukirchen b.Hl.Blut and the Hohenbogen-Winkel. Walk a little further along the road and then turn left into a meadow, walk to the edge of the forest, past a rest area (here you have a view of Klatovy in the Czech Republic). You continue through the forest to Oberkaltenhof (a hamlet with 3 farms). Here you stay on the path through the Grasseihof (farm) and walk past a game reserve to the edge of the forest. At the Hochsitz you keep to the right and hike - sometimes quite steeply down - through the forest to the road to Schicherhof (from Oberkaltenhof to Schicherhofstraße, Nk22 and Nk6 run together). Here you turn right, you will soon pass the Gasthof Büchermühle and continue along the road to the Buchermühlwäldchen; here you keep to the right. Now it's about 300 m uphill quite steeply. After this ascent you come back to Rittsteig via a meadow path. Alternatively, you can go on the somewhat shorter tarred road in the direction of Rittsteig.
