The route leads from the Aigen hiking parking lot (Hintergschwendt) to the Gederer Wand via the less frequented north side. There is a slight scramble on the way there and the path is not always well marked. But with a little experience, it is easy to master. The ascent is rewarded with impressive views. From there, the trail also descends quite steeply, largely following the Gschwendter Bach stream.
Due to the quite steep ascent, surefootedness, fitness and suitable footwear are an advantage.
