This route is mainly on gravel / tar roads and hiking trails. There are gradients of up to 25%. The ascent route largely corresponds to the route of the Kampenwandlauf. The downhill route is much more attractive and uses the narrow hiking trails. A fun downhill experience for trail runners. The route can also be walked in the other direction without any problems.

Especially the many alpine pastures, where a stop is always worthwhile, make the route a relaxing pleasure. Starting point: parking lot at the festival hall (620 m) First climb towards Kampenwand in the forest until you come to a ski slope. On this further direction Hirschenstein, past this and to the Kampenwandbahn (1460 m). Past the Sonnenalm and Kampenwandhütte (1500 m) to the Steinlingalm (1448 m). Continue past the eastern summit of the Kampenwand towards the Hochalpenkopf to start the return journey from there.

Mountain tour no. 26 - Aschau on the Hochries summit house (1.568m) over the Hof Alm, Riesenhütte and back again. Very varied route with a particularly worthwhile stop at the DAV Haus. The route starts at a steep start.

The stage from the Kampenwand mountain to the Priener Hut displays fantastic views and lovely meadowland. However a short stretch, the climb to the Weitlahnerkopf, is secured by cables and requires you to be sure of foot. The relatively short stage allows a detour to the Geigelstein, which will be rewarded by the wonderful panorama over the Kaisergebirge mountains. The stage from the Priener Hut via Sachrang to the Spitzsteinhaus lodge is leisurely and not overly long. This gives the opportunity to have a look around in the Peter-Müller-Museum in Sachrang. From Sachrang, go upwards across the Obermoosalm and the Mesneralm pastures, sometimes over meadows and sometimes through woodland to the Spitzsteinhaus lodge, which already lies in Austrian territory.
