Best trails in Sjunkhatten National Park
Sjunkhatten National Park boasts a fantastic landscape with fjords, lakes and varied terrain. The park is home to lush forested valleys and moorlands, and despite its proximity to urban areas it has a relatively untouched natural landscape.
The western areas have deep fjords and steep valleys, which give way to craggy mountain peaks and slightly rounded hills.
Visitors can enjoy a range of activities, such as mountain tours in the summer and ski tours in the winter on the gentler slopes. However, the highest peaks require climbing equipment and expertise for those who want to reach the top. One of the most famous mountains is Sjunkhatten, which rises 1,186 meters above sea level.
Sjunkhatten has a number of wonderful lakes, such as Heggmovatnet, Steigtindvatnet and Sørskardvatnet, all of which are beautifully situated among the magnificent fjords and the hilly mountains.
