Great trail! Over rocks and wooden bridges. View over the glacier in the end is spectacular: the cherry on the cake. Nice trail for kids as well.

Wow, after doing reinebringer, this hike was a much welcomed gradual incline that offered amazing views throughout the whole hike! There are a lot of side trails to explore and you can hike down to Kvalvika beach too after the climb to the Ryten summit. The views were spectacular, and turned out to be our favorite hike in Lofoten because of the endless mountains surrounding you, the gradual incline, the view of Kvalvika’s turquoise waters and the nice breezes. The clouds did roll in and out on this August 1st, but it just added to the fun. There was also an amazing cabin about halfway up the hike, where we would have loved to have as a home base for a day of two. Look into it, if you think you may want to stay up in this gorgeous area, and hike to your hytter rental! (Also, the parking lot was 50 NOK, they take credit card, NOK, or EUR)

Love that you have to take a ferry to get to this off-the-beaten track beach. The ferry drops you off in an idyllic little “town” at the end of the fjord and you walk along the water and up a little hill to (ideally) a great view of the beach. I am pretty sure it is a really great view. The beach is so long and the sand is soft. We just happened to come on a day where the clouds stayed low in the valley, and we couldn’t see much above the sea level. Still a nice walk and the beach should be really nice. Lots of the people we rode the ferry with are camping here too.

Great experience; absolutely amazing views. I loved the meadow at the start. The trail itself wasn’t that impressive, but the view from the top was unbeliveable. Trail was crowded and narrow in some points - it wasn’t easy to walk because of the two-way traffic.

Hands down one of the best trail in Lofoten. Definitely go to the Kvalvika beach too. I’d say Odin lives there

Super randonnée, ça monte un peu (beaucoup) mais nous somme des amateurs et on la fait en 5h aller et 2h30 pour le retour! Prévoir un pantalon de pluie pour glisser sur la neige! Vraiment top!

Nice trail. Some elevation in the beginning, but not too bad. I would rate this as moderate-easy, not truly easy. Took us 2 hours round trip to go to the beach and back. IMPORTANT NOTE- this trail is point to point and NOT out and back. I assumed it was out and back, since the Bunes beach trail is that way, so the length was a bit of a surprise.

The hike to the beach itself is quite easy and doable. However, the hike up to Ryten is quite steep and difficult. Since it is not that long, I agree that this trail is moderate.

Very beautiful hike but very steep. Didn’t quite make it to the peak. Also beware the sheep! They were very aggressive and almost knocked us off the trail. Had to fend them off with my hiking poles

Important: if you are not Norwegian then you might feel that this hike is strenuous. I am from the rocky mountains and have hiked my fair share of big mountains and part of this hike still kicked my butt. Hike info: As far as I'm aware the parking area has moved due to the heavy traffic. You should find it easily by googling and be aware that the new parking area has a fee, although they accept cash and card. This also means that the trail has changed slightly. The beginning of the trail is easy enough. A boardwalk takes you over a small bog and to the first easy hill. From the top of the first hill you turn to the right and climb a short, but steep hill. There is a chain to grab, but it seems unnecessary. From the top of the steep hill things are very mild as you are just crossing the saddle between the mountains. At the end of the saddle the trail will split. You can continue up Ryten which is a short easy/moderate incline with a great panoramic view. After conquering the mountain you hike down a bit and turn towards the lake where the trail splits. This will take you downhill and there is another boardwalk for a short time. After this the trail gets VERY steep the whole way to the beach. On this large hill you must navigate down a large boulder field which can be a bit tricky as some of the boulders are wobbly. Definitely take your time going down this to ensure you have stable footing. After the boulder field you continue down a steep dirt path to the beach. I found that even when this path was dry it was still a bit slippery from loose rocks and dirt. Now the challenge: Getting back up from the beach. We decided to backpack in and spend the night on the beach so we had heavier packs which made things a bit harder, but even without them the steep hill is challenging(switchbacks dont seem to exist here) This hill is the only reason that some might consider this hike strenuous. I have done many hikes, but that hill had my legs burning. After that the way back is easy as it is almost all down hill. In the end, this hike was absolutely worth the effort and the views took my breath away. Sidenote: I would not recommend camping at the beach. We went during Covid while the nordic bubble was open so there were maybe 15 other tents and it was not too crowded. However I have heard that it's normal to have around 40 tents there. So be aware of that.
