Best trails in Junkerdal National Park
Junkerdal National Park is located in one of Norway's largest untouched regions at the Arctic Circle. It is known for its rare flora and magnificent natural scenery. Most of the park is above the tree line, which contributes to a unique and diverse flora and fauna.
The center of the park is the 41.46 km2 Balansvatnet, with Låmivatnet and Muorkkejávrre. The areas are characterized by expanses with round hills and wide moors.
The limestone-rich mountains are home to a number of rare mountain plants and wildlife. Among the larger inhabitants of the park we find brown bear, lynx, wolverine, elk and reindeer. The park is also an important refuge for threatened and endangered bird species.
Visitors can go on wonderful walks throughout the national park, which can last several days. Four large cabins are available for accommodation.
Just off the E6 is the Nordland National Park Centre, where you can learn more about nature, the outdoors and the protected areas in Nordland. From here you can take several lovely walks in the park.
