Popular circular hiking trail in the Upper Bavarian Forest Nature Park, Bavaria.
From the starting point in Sattelpeilnstein to the south of the castle, the trail leads downhill through the village until you reach Fischkalterstraße. Here you are accompanied by the supra-local hiking trails called Main-Donau-Weg and Südliche Hauptwanderlinie. Turn left into the road and immediately bear right. After approx. 160 metres, don't miss the markings to the right that lead you into the forest. At some point you have to cross a clearing area with new planting. Please only stay on the beaten track here to avoid damaging the planting. You now reach a tarmac road through the village of Sitzenberg, which you follow downhill to the right. Via the gravel path "Am Weissenstein" you reach Peilnsteiner Straße. Immediately after 50 metres, bear left again. The two supra-local hiking trails, the long-distance hiking trail and the Main-Danube trail, leave the local hiking trail here. The following, idyllic gravel road towards Köpfelsberg will eventually turn into forest paths. However, following the markings, you soon reach a comfortable gravel path again in the direction of Boden. From here you are on a tarmac road. It's not long before you reach the sports ground. Heading south, you return to the starting point.
