The wooded hike starts at the Kallbrück car park, very close to the dam. The steep ascent to the Ochsenkopf rewards with marvellous views. At the Ochsenkopf, the Dürener Straße is crossed and the hike continues along the Mittelweg on the other side. At the end of the Mittelweg, the route turns left to reach the Peterberg. From there, it returns to the starting point of the route.
A memorial for fallen U.S. and German soldiers commemorates the battles of the Second World War.
