Second stage of the "Bachtäler Höhenroute" long-distance hiking trail in the Nature park Hohes Venn - Eifel, North Rhine-Westphalia.
This is the second stage of the Bachtäler Höhenroute, which is usually a three-day hike. Stage 2 begins in Simonskall, crosses the northern part of the Eifel National Park and ends at the Rurtalsperre Schwammenauel. The hike leads past the Marienkapelle, built in the 1940s, and through the valley of the Huschelsbach to the Rursee. Although some sections of the Bachtäler Höhenroute run directly along the banks of the Rursee, it always goes up to great vantage points such as the Eifel-Blick "Schöne Aussicht" or the Hubertushöhe. There are hotels at the Rurtalsperre Schwammenauel, the destination of the stage. The journey home can also be started from here by bus or ferry. There is parking at the starting point and a bus also goes here.
