Treppenstein - Verlobungsinsel - Kastehaus

Winding through the wild Oker Valley in the Harz Mountains, this scenic trail links three popular stamping points of the Harzer Wandernadel. The path leads alongside the rushing waters of the Oker River to the Verlobungsinsel, a quiet island in the riverbed accessed by a small wooden bridge. Clambering higher up the valley side, the track reaches the Treppenstein, a dramatic granite rock formation equipped with stone steps and iron railings that open onto wide views over the forested gorge. The route also passes the historic Kästehaus mountain inn, where ancient granite crags like the Kästeklippen offer sweeping vistas across the Northern Harz foreland.
