Great summit tour in the foothills of the Bavarian Alps.
From the parking lot in the village of Jachenau (790 m), the tour climbs steadily for most of the way along wide forest paths. It is only from Jocheralm onwards that the route leads over cow pastures on a beautiful mountain path towards the summit. Although the Jochberg is only 1565 m high, it offers a breathtaking view of the Alps and the two pre-Alpine lakes Walchensee and Kochelsee in fine weather.
The descent then takes you past the Jocheralm, keeping to the left and continuing across the muddy meadow (Rotmoos), then following the fantastic path towards Kotalm. At the Kotalm (private), turn right onto the wide forest path and then left onto the beautiful hiking trail 483. Now follow the signs towards Jachenau.
