From the car park in Jachenau, the trail leads via the Pfund-Alm up to the Hirschhörndlkopf. After a section along a forest road, the steep, south-facing ascent takes hikers up the forest slope via several hairpin bends, with a steep descent to the side. A good basic level of fitness and surefootedness is required here. Once the route reaches the summit, the ascent will be rewarded with a magnificent view of Lake Walchensee, the Herzogstand, the Jochberg, and Starnberg. On the way back, the route via the Kotalm is somewhat flatter and more leisurely along the mountain stream.
