Great mountain hike from Kesselberg Passhöhe in the Bavarian Pre-Alps.
Overall, this is a moderate mountain hike that leads from Kesselberg Passhöhe to the Herzogstand mountain inn along a wide road. The ascent to the peaks finally takes place in many serpentines along a partly rugged but well-maintained path. Sure-footedness and good footwear are recommended. First, the route reaches the summit of the 1731-metre-high Herzogstand. The route then continues along the plateau with its great views to the summit of the Heimgarten. There, the Heimgartenhütte invites you to stop for refreshments (note opening times).
