The loop begins in Mittenwald and first leads along the Klammgeistweg and then a short distance along the road to Zum Gasthof Mühle. There the route joins the Achweg and the ascent to the summit of the Riedkopf begins. Several serpentines lead uphill through the forest. The reward at the summit is of course a fantastic view.
The route continues downhill over several hairpin bends back to Mittenwald.
