Maximiliansweg Stage 11: Eschenlohe - Herzogstandhaus

This route follows stage 11 of the Maximiliansweg, a long-distance trail through Germany and Austria, beginning in Eschenlohe and ending at the Herzogstandhaus. The path departs Eschenlohe past the historic St. Clemens Church and heads east through the scenic Eschenlaine Valley. It winds along clear mountain streams and through dense forests, bypassing the Ölrain peak before climbing toward the Heimgarten and Herzogstand mountains, where hikers gain views of the Karwendel range and Walchensee lake. Overnight stays are accommodated at the Herzogstandhaus alpine lodge or in guesthouses in Eschenlohe; wild camping is strictly prohibited along this mountain section. Hikers must pack a reliable water filter to treat surface water from natural streams between stations.
