Best lake trails in Eschenlohe

Refreshing hiking trail in Eschenlohe, Bavaria. This picturesque route leads from Eschenlohe through the Eschenlain valley to Lake Walchensee. This is one of the deepest and largest alpine lakes in Germany. It is therefore worth making a detour to or even around the lake. The hike can easily be started from Eschenlohe train station. After starting in Eschenlohe, it goes straight through the Eschenlainetal, then over the Simetsberg up to the Walchensee lookout point. Then with the trail option down to Wallgau. From there you bike up into the picturesque Finztal valley, to reward your effort with a stop at the Esterbegalm. After the rest, it goes on refreshing asphalt / gravel downhill to Garmisch and then on the "original path" picturesque and quiet to Eschenlohe. From Eschenlohe to the ducal estate. This variant leads over the rock path. The highest point of the tour is 935 m above sea level, so it is well suited as a spring or late autumn tour. On the ascent just before the Kesselbergsattel near Urfeld there is a small carrying passage. The section directly on the B11 is of course very busy when the weather is nice! It is also essential to take the loop around the Walchensee peninsula - the color of the lake is gigantic here!

This tour includes the "difficult ascent to the Windwurfeck" (not really worthwhile). Long driveway to the three brands with beautiful views of the Murnauer Moos, steep descent to Unterammergau, along the Ammer via Oberammergau again up to the Bärenbadflecken. The final downhill trail that follows is largely rideable.

From the PP at the motorway exit Eschenlohe (625m) direction Höllenstein (630m). There, shortly before the right direction Ettaler Mandl. Always follow the signs. After about 7km right high part in the forest, first Karrenweg, later narrow trail. You land near Bärenbadflecken. From there, a detour to Soile Alm (1325m).
