This hike is the longest usual hut crossing in the Berchtesgadener Land. The Kärlingerhaus, which is managed during the summer months, is located on the beautiful Funtensee in the Steinernes Meer. From there it goes up in Hochtal before it goes steeply down the Himmelsleiter in the direction of Grünsee and Schwarzsee on the marked trail 416. Relaxed and fairly flat, the route continues through forest and alpine pastures to the managed Wasseralm and the Obersee vantage point. Here you have to go a good bit uphill through the forest and through the Landtalgraben to the Hochchina. A part runs on a cable-secured climb. In a northerly direction, it goes downhill on the marked trail 416 to the Seeleinsee. On the last stretch to the Carl-von-Stahl-Haus, you will pass the Windscharte and the imposing Schneibstein summit with great views.
