This route is a Black Forest gourmet trail. In 2020 it was voted the most beautiful hiking trail in Germany. One reason for this are the unique all-round views that are offered from the top of the fourth highest mountain in the Black Forest, the Belchen. From the snow-covered Swiss Alps, the view sweeps over the Black Forest region and the surrounding Black Forest mountains, to the Rhine plain and consequently to the Vosges. The Belchensteig leads through beautiful mountain forests, along small bubbling streams and across open meadows. There are numerous places to stop, such as the Krinnehütte or the Gasthaus Belchen-Multen. The meters in altitude to be overcome require a good basic level of fitness.
