Belchenhaus to Valley

This hike leads from the summit plateau of the Belchen, probably the most beautiful panoramic mountain in the Black Forest, down into the valley. The route starts right at the Belchenhaus, the highest inn in Baden-Württemberg, which is located directly below the summit cross. From the starting point, the trail first leads across the treeless, alpine meadows of the summit, which are known for their rare flora. Plants that are otherwise only found in the Alps thrive here, such as the alpine auricula or the yellow gentian. With a bit of luck, chamois can be observed on the rocky slopes of the north face, while the rare peregrine falcon often circles above the wide open spaces. The descent leads partly along narrow, stony paths and forest sections. Surefootedness is required here.
