The Baldeneysee is located in the south of Essen. Just northeast of it lies the Bochum Railway Museum. Here begins the circular route that leads to Baldeneysee and back and is best mastered by bike. The route around Lake Baldeney alone is 27 kilometers long. On the circular route you can enjoy the nature around the lake and many vantage points invite you to linger.

This route follows Stage 1 of the Bergischer Weg and connects Essen-Baldeney with Velbert. From the Baldeney hiking parking lot, the trail leads through beech forests, past Isenburg Castle, to Lake Baldeney.
