Trail reviews for Nerang National Park
Doing the counter-clockwise loop, just after the stream crossing is a steep incline with a lot of exposed rock. This is EXTREMELY slippery underfoot when wet. We had quite a bit of rain over a 48hr period and stream only got to just below the knees, approx. 4m wide. Rest of the loop is pretty good underfoot, with some generic exposed rock underfoot as per Nerang National Park.
YOU NEED TO TAKE THE NO-HORSES TRAIL!! This wasn't clear on the map and I could easily see someone wandering past the NO-horses trail. The NO-horses trail is a steep, almost vertical trail in parts (70-80 degrees), that leaves the main track. You'll need to take it otherwise you'll stay on the main trail which is a much larger loop. Overall, one of the better trails in the Nerang Springbrook conservation area. Plenty of wildlife, my personal favourite was an echidna. Very peaceful and isolated with some great views. Climbs can be pretty steep and slippery, especially on the NO-horses trail. I recommend doing the trail anti-clockwise, taking the path right immediately upon entry, That way you'll get to come down the NO-horses trail and avoid the brutal climb.
