Winterstein Rock in Kleinen Zschand

Panoramic hike to the Winterstein, Saxony. This moderately difficult hike leads to the panoramic rock massif of the Winterstein in the Saxon Switzerland National Park. The ascent is quite adventurous and requires a good level of fitness. The start and end point is in the Kirnitzschtal at the paid parking lot of the Lichtenhainer waterfall. The route to the Großer Zschand leads between steep walls overgrown with greenery. First it goes quite steeply uphill to the impressive Felsentor Kuhstall. From there it goes via the Fremdenweg to the next highlight of the tour - the free-standing massif of the Winterstein. The actual ascent to the summit plateau is adventurous - a head for heights and sure-footedness are absolutely necessary! However, climbing a long, free-standing ladder and other exposed passages is a special experience. The ascent is particularly rewarded by the magnificent view. It also goes back over the ladder until you get to the cowshed on the way back via the house trail and get to the starting point via the popular Kuhstallstraße.
