The hike begins in Lichtenhain at the parking lot on the main road. From there it goes over the Hörnelweg and finally the Folgeweg in the direction of Beuthenfall, which can be visited optionally. The Dietrichsgrund leads up to the impressive rock formations of the Affenstein Promenade - one of the most famous highlights of Saxon Switzerland. On the way, a detour to the magnificent Idagrotte is worthwhile.
A bit downhill from the Schrammsteinen, the way back is via the Fremdenweg and leads to another highlight - the impressive rock gate "Kuhstall". On this side of the path, the Lichtenhain waterfall is passed shortly before the end and can be visited optionally.
