Zu zwei sagenhaften Ausblicken: Goldstein und Kipphorn

Moderately difficult hike. Good basic fitness required. Predominantly easy paths. Sure-footedness required. From the Neumannmühle you hike along a wide forest road (yellow line) into the Großer Zschand. This dry valley, initially with a cool, damp cellar climate, leads into the heart of the Saxon Switzerland National Park. Later you reach the historic Zeughaus - now an inn. In the days of Elector Augustus of Saxony (1526-1586), it was a base for hunting around the Großer Winterberg. It served as a storehouse for the equipment. Right next to the arsenal, the national park information center invites you to visit! From here, turn right towards Großer Winterberg (yellow and blue line). After a fairly steep climb up to a reef, keep left (unmarked path) and reach the viewpoint, where a magnificent panorama rewards your efforts so far. Below the rocky ledge, the heart of the national park, the Großer Zschand, framed by wild rocks, lies at your feet. Back from the detour to the viewpoint, stay at the same height and follow the path straight ahead. The route now leads along the Roßsteig (yellow and blue line). At a large crossroads (at the Katzenstein) you will come to a signpost. Keeping slightly to the left, follow the blue and yellow line (Fremdenweg). The next fork to the right will eventually take you to the Großer Winterberg (blue line). From here, follow the Winterberg road a little way down the valley (red dot), where you can take a detour to one of the most beautiful rest points in Saxon Switzerland - the Kipphorn viewpoint. The Kipphorn viewpoint below the Großer Winterberg is an exposed rest area with a fabulous view. The Elbe valley deep below you, the Zirkelstein and Kaiserkrone table mountains prominent on the plateau and the Zschirnstein on the horizon. The route then continues along the Winterbergstraße, always following the hairpin bends (red dot). Later, the red dot branches off to the left (Erlsgrund).
