Try this 18.7-mile loop trail near Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia. Generally considered a moderately challenging route. This is a popular trail for camping, mountain biking, and bike touring, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day.
From the Ruhrbrücke (P) in Steele on foot to the E-Steele S-Bahn station, from there by train to Hattingen, with the rafting boat down the Ruhr to Steele, then continue by bike.
