Die Altdarß-Tour

A round tour on which not only those interested in culture and art get their money's worth. Explore the artists' colony Ahrenshoop and the wonderful landscape around the Altdarß! The discovery tour starts at the port of the Ahrenshooper district of Althagen to explore the Altdarß in the direction of Born. Always close to the shore, you will enter the popular resort after 7 km along a natural dike path. Via Chausseestrasse, follow the signs in the direction of Darßer Ort, but be careful when crossing the busy Bäderstrasse. The Linder Weg leads you through the Altdarß to the refuge at the Großer Stern, which offers you a pleasant resting place. It is always worthwhile to make an additional detour to the Darßer Ort lighthouse, for which you can simply follow the signs to the north. The tour of discovery continues along the “Old Mecklenburg Way” in the direction of Rehberge. This former sea shore forms the natural border between the Neu- and the Altdarß. After an enjoyable rest on the west beach, you drive back to Ahrenshoop along an asphalt dike path. At the beach crossing 6 you leave the dike, cross the Bäderstraße again and drive over the Schifferberg to the Paetowweg. A cycle path alongside the road leads you along the Dorfstraße to the Grenzweg, the historic border between Mecklenburg and Pomerania. After about 300 m turn right and enjoy the view from the viewpoint on the Hohe Ufer. The coastal path leads along the steep bank to the path to the Hohe Ufer, which takes you back to the port of Althagen via the village road. Tips: Visit the Fischerkirche in Born, built in 1934/35, made entirely of wood and located in the middle of a meadow. Visit the youngest monument on Fischland / Darss: the Ahrenshooper Schifferkirche, built in 1951, a unique wooden structure with a thatched roof. Art lovers can experience the place even more intensely and discover the Ahrenshoops art scene in the various galleries and in the new art museum on the way to the Hohe Ufer.
