Die gelbe Route: Moorklinkerstraße und Birkenalleen

Past the Käseglocke, Barkenhoff and Niedersachenstein, you cycle to the Moorkinker roads of the villages Südwede, Westerwede and Worpheim. Old half-timbered houses are along the cobbled streets. The houses stand on small hills, so-called terps which formerly protected against flooding. Today, the "Floating Land of Waakhausen" is past. The Way of the Dead is reminiscent of the times when Worpswede did not yet have its own church. Until 1759, the current artist's village belonged to the monastery church of Osterholz.
